Go Green Recycled Paper Beads

With all this talk about going green, I decided to post this simple tutorial for making recycled paper beads. It's super-easy, and a lot of fun! (And a good way to reuse old comics and newspaper ads!)

You will need:
*Old comics, newspapers, magazines, pretty much any old colorful paper!

*A skewer or toothpick. Use whatever you can find.

*Scissors

*Glue

First, start cutting long strips of your paper. Don't make them too long!

Place the paper facing down on the side you want to show. Place your skewer or toothpick at the top of the paper and drizzle a bit of glue down the paper.

Start rolling the paper up. Roll slowly and smooth it out as you go along.

When you reach the end, smooth the edge. A bit of glue might squeeze out. Just secure the end and wipe it away.

Now slide the rolled paper off the skewer or toothpick.

Make a bunch of these!

Now let the beads dry for a couple of minutes. Maybe make yourself a sandwich. :)

Now string these beads onto cord or hemp.

String as many as you want and then tie a knot!

This particular one was for stanley!

Tada! You now have a fancy new bracelet to wear around, and I guarantee people will stop you to ask about your cute little recycled bracelet! :)

First Craft Tutorial - Banana Cream Pie Out Of Clay

Hey all you readers out there! I am a fan of all things crafty, since, after all, I was a craft project a while ago. So when Mo showed me her awesome Banana Cream Pie that she made out of clay, I decided that my readers should know how to make one! This project is pretty easy, and is pretty cheap, too! (And if you give these as gifts, people will LOVE them!)

This would also make a great addition to your dollie's dollhouse or miniature food collection!

Banana Cream Pie Out of Clay
By Mo

You will need:

*Polymer or air-dry clay in light yellow, tan, and white

*A metal bottle cap (Make sure it's metal, if not, it will melt in the oven!)

*A knife or razor blade to cut the clay (BE CAREFUL! Cuts aren't fun. You might want to get an older monkey or adult to help you with the cutting)

*Any round object to roll the clay

*And any other tools you want to use to work with the clay. (Using kitchen tools isn't reccommended, you don't want to be eating off your art supplies)

Take your tan clay and roll it into a nice round ball

Then roll it out into a circle

Lay the circle of clay into the metal bottle cap and flatten it.

Next, roll your light yellow clay into a ball.

Lay the yellow clay into the tan "pie crust" you just made and flatten it.

Now you are ready for the yummy whipped cream on top! Take your white clay and roll it into a rope.

Then curl it into a loop and keep layering it until it looks like a dollop of whipped cream.

Almost done! Now place the topping on the filled pie!

If you are using Baking Clay, now is the time to bake your pie! Follow the directions on the clay package. If you are using air-dry clay, leave your pie in a safe place for as long as the package suggests.

And.... (drumroll please!)

Ta-da! Your yummy pie is done!
What do you think? I love bananas, so this is perfect! :)

Yours not-so-truly,
Yuki
